The STA Award in Adult and Paediatric Basic Life Support including AED qualification aims to provide learners with the knowledge and practical competences required to be able to deal with an unresponsive adult, child or infant.

The qualification are for learners who would are involved with adults and children and are either required or would like to gain a qualifcation covering adult and paediatric basic life support.

This qualification is valid for a period of 3 years. The learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.

Pre-requisites

The candidate must be 14 years of age or older & able to perform practical demonstrations on the floor

The course will run from 9am with a break for refreshments.

More Information

On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to:

  • Legal, Health & Safety.
  • First Aid & casualty management.
  • How to understand & treat an unconscious casualty.
  • Basic life support including the use of an AED.
  • Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking.
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from a heart attack or angina

Assessment

  • Continual assessment by the Tutor.

Parking

Parking is available – The allocated parking is to the right of the building as you drive on to site.

Entrance

There is an entrance right next to where my car will be parked, if you come through that door and up the stairs we are in the meeting room on the second floor (picture of entrance attached)

Refreshments

Tea and coffee is available to use free of charge in the onsite kitchen. Candidates are welcome to bring their own food for lunches and breaks.
